This is my bowl #3 that I made on the wheel. It was about a 4 inch foot. The skills I learned while footing this was a better way to sit on the wheel while throwing so I can used all my strength and use my knees to help push. I pulled up and used a ribbed tool to give it a bowl shape. It used form and color. I glazed it shadow green with white at the bottom.
This is my second plate. I made another one but someone stole it so this is a few days late. It's 7 inches wide. I learned the skills of making a plate by centering close to the bat and pulling twards myself with a fist. I stained black dots and circles on it and glazed clear over. I looks like the cousin of my plate #1. I used unity with circles because of the form of the actual plate and he glaze used. Mood is playful. This is my first plate. I learned the skills of making solace which is basically centering the clay pretty close to the wheel and making a hole pulling out and pushing down and pulling twards yourself. I did this with a fist. A plate should also have some sort of a lip so I left that on my plate. I glazed it clear over a black dot design which is pretty cute. The circle dots on the circle plate represent a unity in the overall form. The mood is playful. This is my planter. The foot is around 4 inches For this I learned how to pull out the bottom and pull up the cup part. I also had to cut a hole for water. I had to start with a thick base so I could pull out the bottom plate part. I glazed this shadow green and black/ brown so it would have a garden theme. It uses art elements like size and color. Design elements are unity, and form. The overall mood is peaceful because I can see it sitting on a window with little flowers in it. This is my choice project which is a bowl. I did somethings I have never done before which is put it in the glaze kiln twice. I made it how I would make any other bowl, by centering. Making a base and using a rib tool to make the bowl shape. It has form and contrast. The inside is shadow green and outside is blue. I glazed it like that. Then I put white on top of the blue and glazed it. This bowl reminds me of puget sound because of the blue and green, comparing to the ocean and seaweed. I really like the shadow green and will definitely use it again. This is my vase/ tall project. It is turned in late because I have been sick a lot. I threw this on the wheel, then footed it. The foot is 2 1/4 inches and it's about 9 1/2 inches tall. I used the techniques such as centering, pulling out and making a base then pulling up. I learned how to choke to give in the vase shape. When I glazed it I used white and then splattered on turquoise. I like that the project looks different in every side. This project has form. Contrast of glaze to constraint of shape. The mood is wavey. This is my second bowl on the wheel which I think is better then my first bowl. This is good becuase I am showing progress. The foot is about 3 and a quarter inch. I used a white glaze and dripped on a purple glaze that an advanced student made. It used form to make it look like and be used as a bowl. The overall mood of this bowl is pretty. This is my first project of intermediate ceramics. I haven't taken ceramics since my sophomore year, so it was a little hard getting back to it. I had to practice centering and pulling up for a while but then I finally got a good bowl shape. It has a 3 inch foot. I used blue and green glaze. I don't think I would glaze this way again because it's a little dark for me. Next time I will try clear or white with a color. This bowl has obvious form and color. The mood is dark. |
