This last week I painted a macro landscape. I took a picture of a rose for photo class and decided to also use it in art classes because I love the colors and shapes. Skills I used were color and proportion, there had to be a foreground, middle ground and background which I tried to include in my landscape even though it was a macro. I used the art element shape and form while drawing and show space by putting the fence behind the flower. Using water paint I showed contrast and emphasis. The mood of this macro landscape is peaceful or hopeful.. This type of painting is known as Disney painting which uses layering in landscape. In my drawing I made 4 layers of trees. The farthest back layer is lightest and the front tree is large and dark. Line value and shape are shown in the painting done with acrilycs. The elements create overall proportion of small to big and rythem of light to dark. The overall mood is spooky. My dream time painting was done in acrilyc painting using warm red, yellow and oranges and cool blues and purples. This used dots to show time and also gives the painting texture. The painting shows contrast within the colors and in the mood. The story shows s person feeling trapped while there is a joyful sun outside of their dark area. There is emphasis on the big shapes. I made a flower block print of one aid of a block and the reverse cut out on the other side so I could create a multi color print. I layered on blue then purple brown and black. It shows texture, color, cross hatching and shape. Overall the mood is sad because of the dark blue petals and the way it droups down. This is my matted flower print. I used a bright Orange and yellow for my flower print and layed black on top. I used cross hatching and hatching which are lines and shape to create emphasis on the flower. The flower is interesting because it is not centered and the mood is happy because of the bright color. For my independent project I decided to use pen and ink and layered color pencil for a pop. I think it looks really nice with the color and ink. My project uses line, value and color to create emphasis. The mood of this is sad because the eye to me looks sad I carved the back of my first block and to print the color. I choose a vibrant blue because it's pleasing to the eye. My block using the techniques hatching and cross hatching. This project uses color, line and shape to create texture. The mood is cool. This is my color prints, I used many different warm and color colors using my block I carved of a flower. The most important element in a block print is shape, form and texture to create overall proportion and emphasis. I set my flower off center and used bright colors to make it interesting. The mood is happy I used pen and ink for the first time and learned the techniques for a pan and ink drawing such as: hatching, cross hatching, random lines or stippling. In my drawing of my right hand I used s variety of line direction and line value. The more lines together the darker the image. To do this is used cross hatching and close together parallel lines. I put shadows behind my hand to create a 3D form. Another important aspect of pen and ink is texture. My drawing uses texture for value, surface and edges. It shows pattern because of the lines and movement. The mood is self reflection because I looked at my own hand and also the deeper meaning of self reflection in your heart. |
